It
was at the beginning of the last century when
granddad Nicolino opened his first cake shop
in the main square in a small village called
Taurisano. At the time the almond pastry cakes
where so called “ I cosa duci or La Cupeta or
I Mustazzoli” these where all kept away for
special occasions, a lot of people would rely
on him for weddings and other well to do parties.
The good old tradition of Granddad Nicolino
and the experience of his nephew, Antonio Basile
after over a hundred years, have still conserved
style and quality of a real craftsman in his
field. The old Basile pastry has confirmed its
self with a well know name and has been appreciated
having been able to restore the old tradition
of the Salento pastry with enthusiasm and inventiveness,
together with the classical products, the range
continues with new rich proposals for every
moment of the day, making a Basile product a
“cake” full of emotions and ready to be tasted.
Thanks to the experience and skill matured over
the years, Antonio Basile has shown his ability
to mix ingredients and preparation creating
an unmistakeable synthesis of tradition, taste
and quality to give a unique final product.
